Job Description

Western Forest Products is looking for a Production Coordinator to join our Value Added Reman Division in Chemainus, BC.


With the overarching objective of Defining a Higher Standard in optimizing returns and continuous improvement, the Production Coordinator is responsible for coordinating and evaluating the reman programs. Working closely with marketing, manufacturing, and accounting, the Production Coordinator is responsible for ensuring that programs meet the requirements of our sales program and are optimizing returns to the mill.



  • Assess and schedule Kilns, Planer and Resaw activities;
  • Produce detailed work orders;
  • Work with supplying mills to meet shipping schedules and provide timely feedback on completed processing;
  • Manage the Division order file to ensure on spec, on time deliveries; and
  • Maintain visibility of selling opportunities / issues.


Job Requirements

Education and Experience

  • Post-secondary degree in Business, Accounting, Wood Processing or Forestry related field or equivalent experience;
  • Lumber grading and/or tally ticket certification;
  • Experience working as a Production Coordinator in a sawmill manufacturing environment;
  • Experience working in wood products manufacturing; and
  • Experience in quality control, sawmill or planer supervision is preferred.

Skills, Knowledge and Required Competencies

  • Intermediate experience with MS Office, including Word and Excel.
