Job Description


With the overarching objective of attracting the best talent to the organization, the Junior Recruiter will partner with business unit leaders and managers to support the recruitment of Western’s hourly workforce. The Recruiter is responsible for the full cycle of recruitment including job posting, screening, interviewing, employee onboarding, and follow up. This is an exciting, developmental opportunity for an entry-level contract position. This is a 12 month contract position.


Duties to include:

  • attracting talent through the utilization of traditional and innovative recruitment methods
  • assisting the hiring manager with the position requisition process
  • preparing employment advertising for approval by the hiring manager
  • advertising employment opportunities at most appropriate locations/sites including social media;
  • pre-screening candidates based on position pre-requisites and ensuring candidate qualifications
  • scheduling interviews and participate, as needed, in the interview process
  • providing assistance with candidate reference checks as required
  • assisting with the overall candidate experience to ensure it is professional, positive and reflects Western’s core values
  • maintaining open lines of communications with candidates and hiring managers
  • ensuring all staffing activities are properly documented in the applicant tracking systems
  • organizing, attending, and supporting job fairs
  • other duties as required


Job Requirements


Required Knowledge: Proficient use of Microsoft Office products; knowledge of applicant tracking systems is considered an asset

Required Skills & Abilities: Proven proficiency in developing and executing sourcing strategies; utilizing various recruitment tools; previous experience utilizing online recruitment tools; excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to work in a fast paced results driven environment; demonstrated ability to work effectively within a team; demonstrated ability to multi-task in a deadline oriented environment

Required Professional Designation/Certification: Post-secondary Degree or Certificate in Human Resources Management or a related discipline

Preferred Experience: One to three years full cycle recruitment experience; experience with behavioural and competency based interviewing
