As the largest Crown timber tenure holder in coastal BC, Western has a superior timber asset base and the largest investment in lumber manufacturing in the region. Western produces a diverse range of high value speciality products that serve global markets.

It’s an exciting time to be in the wood products business. The market is increasingly recognizing the benefits of building with wood. Innovation, such as the development of mass timber building technologies, is driving architects to increase the use of wood in both structural and decorative applications. Western is transforming how and where it moves lumber from its Manufacturing facilities to market. They are seeking to simplify and optimize a diverse logistics network that includes a mix of interdivisional, reload and direct-to-customer “vehicles.” With its recent purchase of a distribution center in Washington State and its unique geographic position, a significant opportunity exists to develop a supply chain that is reliable, consistent and cost effective.

With the overarching objective of Defining a Higher Standard in safety and continuous improvement, the GM, Logistics is responsible for leading an integrated logistics organization, delivering targeted products to selected customers on time at the lowest possible cost. The GM Logistics will work closely with Manufacturing and Sales, establishing working relationships across the business.

The ideal candidate is a supply chain/logistics/transportation professional with senior level experience managing in a complex, multi modal, multi product business that distributes products globally. The role is best suited to a dynamic, high energy leader who is comfortable setting long term strategies and getting hands-on at the tactical level in a fast paced and changing environment. The preferred candidate also brings superior business acumen and an ability to transform the business through performance metrics.

Located in Vancouver, BC, with travel required, the GM, Logistics will be taking on a significant transformation mandate – to create a scalable and optimized logistics function that supports a growing, market leading business.
